5 Tips to Boosting Metabolism
Synopsis: The following article offers several more tips that can help individuals to boost their metabolism.
While there are a lot of little things and little actions that can hurt your overall metabolic performance, the good news is that there are many factors and many little actions that can be taken in order to boost your metabolism, as well. While some of these are going to be more effective and longer lasting than others, every little boost to the metabolism adds up, and can make one heck of a difference at the end.
Tip #1: Don't be afraid of green tea. Is there anything this wonder drink won't do? Not only has green tea been shown to have a ton of antioxidants, and a great many health benefits on top of that, but green tea has also been shown to produce a nice metabolic boost that lasts quite a bit longer than coffee.
Tip #2: Avoid stress. This is not only for the metabolism, but this is for weight loss and health of any kind. Stress hormones, whether it's physical stress, emotional stress, or both, release cortisol into the system. Cortisol not only hordes body fat like nobody's business, but it hordes it right around the mid section, adding that spare tire you're trying so hard to get rid of. Anyone who has watched "The Biggest Loser" knows that stress alone is enough to gain weight sometimes. So as one of my friends likes to say: "Just chill, man."
Tip #3: Get enough sleep. Getting enough sleep helps to relieve stress, gives your body time to use all the leftover carbs to get your organs and systems functioning fully, and new studies show the most lean muscle repair is done during the final hours of sleep.
Tip #4: Never skip breakfast. The first meal of the day has more to do with kicking off your metabolism than anything else. So don't skip breakfast, and don't be afraid to add some spice to give your metabolism that extra kick start it needs to burn strong throughout the entire day.
Tip #5: Avoid sugar like the plague. Many people don't know this, but even a moderate amount of sugar tells your body it's time to store fat. Stay away from sugar, and if you feel a sweet craving, go grab some fruit.
If you follow these 5 tips and keep up a good exercise routine and a reasonable diet, you may be surprised just how effective your metabolism can be in helping you to shed unwanted pounds and in keeping it off for good.
